Working for Free
Reading stories like this one has helped me solidify my decision to quit my dead-end job in retail tech support and follow my passion. Yesterday I attended a mask workshop, which I was thrilled to pay for because it gave me the opportunity to do something I love and learn something new about my craft. I’d even amend the author’s statement to “find work that you would pay to do, and learn how to get paid for it.” I was happy in my undergrad program because I was doing what I loved, even though it cost me an arm and a leg, and that experience taught me that I only want to work as an artist. Time to follow that dream.
